Wildlife holidays

The wolverine is an arctic loner, a solitary and rare mammal which is active all year around. From a special hide designed for photographing, you will get the possibility to watch and photograph the wolverine in his natural environment. The season is from March to October. From March to beginning of May, the wolverine will move on the snow.

Every year, up to 3 – 5 wolverines have been seen and photographed from these hides. From 20th April, some of the hides are used also to photograph bears, white-tailed eagle. In summer badger, wolves, foxes, owls and elks can appear in the area. Please see our wolverine video from 2015 on Youtube.

Special wolverine prography program offers you the possibility to concentrate on photography this rare and magnificent mammal. In the beginning of April, bears are not yet around that give space and time to the wolverine to enjoy the hide area without the stress to be disturb by other predators.

The hides will be use in daytime (early morning) that give you time in evening to photography for example northern lights.

At the accommodation you will enjoy the red squirrels and different birds coming to the feeders.

First evening you will be welcomed at Lentiira with an orientation / information and diner.

Daily program include breakfast, then we will take the direction of the hides with our photography equipment.

The hides are less that a kilometer walk from the car and we will use sledges to carry equipments and use snowshoes if needed (included). The hides are equipped with beds, dry toilet and gaz heater. In  late afternoon, we will come back to the accommodation for a nice meal.

Depending the opportunities we will also enjoy other animals as wild forest reindeer and owls.

• Transfer from Kajaani airport, ( In autumn 2023, in case of no flights on Kajaani aiport, transfert can be organise to Kuopio extra cost of 70 €/ person)

Equipment recommended:

Clothes according to cold weather (winter, superposition of layers, hat, gloves, winter waterproof shoes), binoculars, video and camera, tripod and head of tripod.
